Pakistan Twenty20 Squad for World Cup 2007 (Razzaq & Yusuf out of 20-20)

On Monday PCB Selection committee picked 15 member squad for 20-20 world cup to be held in South Africa. Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Razzaq have been omitted from the 15-man squad for the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.

Misbah-ul-Haq is back in the side after three years gap and Fawad Alam with his brilliant allround performance this season for domestic matches has given him a place in the team.

Abdur Rehman is another Pakistani player who was making comeback into the team. The other surprising inclusion is Mohammad Sami and Yasir Arfat. While Sami's performance has improved of late, Yasir Arafat, who has had an impressive season with Kent, was preferred. "We have noted Sami's performance recently and decided to omit him and bring in Yasir Arafat, the allrounder, in the team at the back of his impressive performance for Kent."

Pakistani Cricket team is in the Group D of twenty20 world cup with India and Scotland. They will play their first match on 12 September at Kingsmead against Scotland.

However on the omission of Mohammad Yusuf, Salahuddin Ahmed, chief selector, said that Mohammad Yusuf is world class player and he has given rest for this tournament.

Shoaib Akhtar, who left the field during one of the practice matches due to dehydration and missed the following matches due to a neck strain, has been included in the lineup. "I can assure you that Shoaib Akhtar has recovered from the neck strain and is now fully fit."

Twenty20 Pakistan Cricket Team Squad: Shoaib Malik (C), Kamran Akmal (WK), Imran Nazir, Salman Butt, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Asif, Shoaib Akthar, Umar Gul, Iftikhar Anjum, Abdur Rehman, Yasir Arafat, Misbah-ul-Haq
