After 21 years of break Indians able to win the series in England – India Vs England at Oval Day5

A must awaited Series win against England has finally arrived after the gap of 21 years under the Rahul Dravid and Company. India had a better result in 3rd and final test but a brilliant century from Kevin Pietersen saved England from loosing another test against India.

England ended fifth day on 369/6 to deny one the most fascinating win for the Indians. On day 5 England started their fight with both the openers at the crease. They batted well last night to go on 5th day with all 10 wickets in hand. Finally they lost their first wicket at 79 when Andrew Strauss caught at second slip by V.V.S Laxman on the bowling of R.P. Singh. Seven runs later they again lost Aliastar Cook caught at leg slip by V.V.S Laxman on the bowling of Anil Kumble.

At lunch England were 126-2 with skipper Michael Vaughan batting on 22 and Kevin Pietersen on 17. They both put on 66 runs for third wicket before M.Vaughan was departed caught behind on bowling of S.Sreesanth.

The Indian bowlers toiled hard thereafter, as Pietersen and Collingwood added 114 runs for the fourth wicket, until Sreesanth trapped Collingwood leg before for 40 with England on 266-4.

K.Pietersen on the other hand playing an inning of life to save England and in the process completed his second century of the series before getting out caught at first slip on bowling of S.Sreesanth.

Ian Bell and wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Prior need to do some home work here since India is smelling an outside chance of winning this test match and they stood up to the task for England, and did just that with a 74-run stand. Bell struck his second half-century of the match before he was out to Anil Kumble for 67.

The English batsmen had done enough by then to deny India a victory as they finished the proceedings on 369-6 after the stipulated 90 overs.

England never lost the series after 2001 at home but Rahul Dravid and company had beaten them at home after 6 years of Gap in their home yard.
