Indian Squad for Zimbabwe 2010 Series

Indian selector announced the 15 member squad in which they have rested some of the major players like M.S.Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Sing, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Virendra Sehwag and Praveen Kumar.

Indian selector decided to rest these players to give them some break from cricket before the hectic cricket schedule which begins with Sri Lanka tour. The decision to rest the senior players will give opportunity to some of the youngster to prove their ability at International level. Those getting a look-in include seamers Pankaj Singh and Ashok Dinda, and Madhya Pradesh wicketkeeper Naman Ojha.

In the absence of M.S.Dhoni, Suresh Raina will lead the side in the triangular series in Zimbabwe as well as the two twenty20 matches to be played against Zimbabwe. Virat Kohli will be the deputy of Suresh Raina.

Also the three outstanding spinners P.Ojha, Amit Mishra and R.Ashwin of IPL seson3 has also been included in the squad, while Piyush Chawla will join the squad for the two twenty20 games.

The tri-series, also involving Sri Lanka, kicks off in Bulawayo on May 28th 2010, with the Twenty20s on June 12th and 13th.
