India team seems to be on a roll when they chase down 271 runs quite comfortably during the fifth ODI against England. Virendra Sehwag once again looks in superb touch as he pace his inning with perfection hitting 91 runs of just 73 balls with one huge six and fifteen fours.
India started their run chase with confidence as their openers Sachin Tendulkar (50 runs of 57 balls) and Virendra Sehwag (91 runs of 73 balls) both went on to score fifty in quick succession. Both players put on 136 runs in just 19.5 overs for the first wicket. Partnership was finally broken when S.Tendulkar played a needless stroke to get bowled by S.Harmision.
R.Bopara and S.Braod strikes in quick succession to give England much needed twin breakthrough. First R.Bopara caught Yuvraj Singh (6 runs of 9 balls) on his own bowling then in the very next over S.Braod get rid of V.Sehwag for 91 runs to give his team an outside chance.
However Indian captain M.S.Dhoni (50 runs of 61 balls) and S.Raina (53 runs of 53 balls) didn’t lose their nerves as both batted sensibly to put on 112 runs for the fifth wicket to guide their team home quite comfortably. M.S.Dhoni did get out on 50 but it was too late for England to taste their first victory in the series.
Earlier Indian captain M.S.Dhoni won the toss and put England into bat. England got of to steady start as they scored 81 runs in first two powerplay with the loss of two wickets.
It was England captain innings which helped his team to reach a comparative total of 270/4 in 50 overs. K.Pietersen scored an unbeaten 111 runs of 128 balls with 10 fours and one huge six. He involved in two crucial partnership first with P.Collingwood (40 runs of 64 balls) in which both went on to put 89 runs of the 3rd wicket and then 112 runs unbroken partnership for the fifth wicket with Owasis Shah (66 runs of 57 balls).
From India once again Zaheer Khan was most successful bowler as he went on to picks two wickets by conceding 60 runs in his 10 overs.
Now India has taken the unbeatable lead of 5-0 in the seven match ODI series.
Virendra Sehwag was declared Man of the Match for his superb 91 runs.
