Yuvraj brilliance helped India to thrashed England by 158 runs in 1st ODI at Rajkot

Yuvraj Singh unbeaten century of 138 runs helped his team to register a record win of 158 runs against England at home soil. Yuvraj Singh who was out of form since last few series is finally come back to his stylish stroke play as he hit 16 fours and six huge sixes.

Indian team after scoring a record total at home turf of 387/5 in their quota of 50 overs bowled out England for just 229 in 37.4 overs. The win was made easy by inspiring spell from Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel. Both bowled superbly to break the back bone of England during huge run chase.

Yuvraj ninth ODI century helped India to post second highest total in ODI on the board behind 413/5 which was scored during 2007 world cup in West Indies against Bermuda. India also manage to register a record win according to runs against England surpassing the previous margin of 85 runs which was came in Sydney in 1985.

England started their run chase in disasterous fashion as they slump to 76/5 in the 18th over. However a superb fifty from their Captain K.Pietersen (63 runs of 56 balls) and Ravi Bopara (54 runs of 38 balls) helped the team to get some respectibility in the end. Both batsmen hit few lusty blows to entertain the Indian crowd.

Earlier England Captain K.Pietersen won the toss and has no hesitation in putting India into bat. However Indian opener once again able to gave their team a superb start. Both batsmen put on 127 runs in 19.5 overs, before G.Gambhir got out for well made 51 runs of 63 balls.

Once Gambhir got out V.Sehwag started to play more aggressively but he also didn't lasted longer as he got out for 85 runs of 73 balls giving S.Patel his second victims of the inning.

Suresh Raina (43) and Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (39) were the other notable performers for India. Yuvraj, batting with a belt around his waist and with Gautam Gambhir as his runner for the major part of his dazzling knock, reached his hundred off just 64 balls with 11 fours and four sixes, narrowly missing out on overhauling Md. Azharuddin's 62-ball century record.

Yuvraj Singh was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant 138 runs of 78 balls.
