Mumbai Indians beat Deccan Chargers by 25 runs to register their sixth consecutive wins in IPL to get closer to the semi final. D. Bravo who was playing his last match in IPL since he is leaving for West Indies Australia test series starting from Thursday played an important role in Mumbai Indians victory by scoring quick 30 runs with bat and then later picked up three crucial wickets to set the game for Mumbai Indians.
Chasing a target of 179 runs for victory Deccan Chargers got of to disastrous start when Shahid Afridi played first ball he faced straight up in the air to give D. Bravo his first victim. The catch was superbly taken by D. Thornely running backwards.
R. Sharma and A. Gilchrist played cautiously after the fall of Afridi but both got out quickly in the fifth over of their inning when D. Fernando picked both in two balls to reduce the Deccan Chargers from 20/1 to 20/3 in fifth over.
Thereafter only V.Rao (57 runs of 38 balls) and R.Teja (37 runs of 28 balls) showed some fight for the home team but it’s too late since the required run rate were climbing ball by ball and in the end Mumbai Indians wrapped up the match by 25 runs.
Earlier A.Gilchrist won the toss and put visitors into bat. S.Jayasurya who manage to get his form back in the last couple of inning once again looks dangerous as he scored quick fire 36 runs ofjust 25 balls to get his team to flying start. S. Tendulkar also looks in good nick before throwing his wicket away for well compiled 23 runs in the process of hitting Shahid Afridi out of the park.
Mumbai Indians lost few quick wickets in the middle over however some good and sensible batting by A.Nayar (38 runs of 24 balls) and D.Bravo (30 runs of 17 balls) gave them a total which was comparative in the end.
D.Bravo was declared Man of the Match.
