Chennai Super Kings thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 Runs

With the two wins in two games, Kolkata Knight Riders were confidant that they will able to achieve their third successive wins and that was almost on the card till the 16th over of Chennai Super Kings inning but after that it was all CSK who dominated the game as per their liking and thrashed the high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs to wide open the tournament.

Chasing the target of 165 runs for victory, Kolkata Knight Riders were bundled out for 109 runs in 19.2 overs in their own backyard. Chennai Super Kings shook off their defeat to Deccan Chargers and their convincing victory brings them right back in the competition.

Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a dreadful start with the hero of the last game back in the pavilion inside the first two overs. Brad Hodge was first to go, dismissed by Albie Morkel with 2nd ball of the first over, while the tall fast bowler M.Gony remove dangerous looking Manoj Tiwary to reduced the KKR scores to 9/2 at the end of 2nd over.

Introduction to L.Balaji and J.Kemp into the attack by CSK Captain M.S.dhoni does the rest of the job for Chennai Super Kings, as the duo taken five wickets in between them in the space of 5 overs to break the back bone of Kolkata batting. W.Saha was the top scorer for them with 22 runs of 13 balls.

Earlier Chennai Super Kings captain M.S.Dhoni elected to bat first, but his team struggled to score runs quickly against the quality Kolkata Knight Riders new ball attack. At one stage they were struggling at 55/3 in the 10th over. But arrival of M.S.Dhoni to the crease lightens the spark in the middle. He started slowly, but once he got his eye in, he started to bat like the earlier days MSD.

He smashed as many as three huge sixes and six fours in his unbeaten knock of 66 runs of 33 balls. M.S.Dhoni and S.Badrinath added unbeaten 109 runs partnership for the fourth wicket to led Chennai Super Kings to challenging total. Chennai Super Kings scored 61 runs in the last four overs.

With this win Chennai now has 2 points in two games in IPL twenty20 2010.

M.S.Dhoni was declared Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 66 runs of just 33 balls which includes three sixes and six fours.
