South Africa beat India by 90 runs in 3rd ODI at Ahemedabad

Having lost the ODI series already, South Africa played brilliantly to receive the consolation win against India in the 3rd and final ODI played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad.

After opting to bat first South Africa compiled huge 365/2 runs in the allotted 50 overs with the help of brilliant century from Captain Jaques Kallis (104 runs of 94 balls) and AB Devilliers record 102 runs of just 59 balls.

In the chase of 366 runs for victory, Indians were bundled out for 275 runs in 44.3 overs. No batsman able to get going and that is the main reason they have lost the game. India, who had already won the series 2-0, had to be content with a 2-1 victory after they failed to overhaul the huge target, despite some useful contributions by Virat Kohli (57 runs of 71 balls), Rohit Sharma (48 runs of 61 balls) and Suresh Raina (49 runs of 30 balls).

Earlier, South African batsman made full use of the inexperienced bowling lineup as South African openers put on 113 runs for the first wicket in just 94 balls with the help of half centuries from L.Bosman (68 runs of 46 balls) and Hashim Amla (87 runs of 103 balls).

Kallis slammed unbeaten 104 in 94 balls with three sixes and five fours while de Villiers (102), who scored his second ton on the trot in the series, carted the bowlers for three sixes and eleven fours in his 59-ball innings.

AB Devilliers was declared Player of the Match for his blistering century of just 59 balls.

Sachin Tendulkar was declared Player of the Series.
