India v Sri Lanka Tri-Series 5th Game – Do or die for Sri Lanka

After a washout game against New Zealand, Sri Lanka face a must win battle with India in their last league game of Micromax Cup Tri-angular series. The scenario is very simple for both teams whoever wins the game will certainly have better chance of making into the Final to be played on 28th of August 2010.

However last three days have seen lots of rain here in Dambulla and rain is also expected to interrupt the today’s game between India and Sri Lanka. A third consecutive day of showers disrupted both team's practice plans. This is the first time the teams will play each other after the Suraj Randiv no-ball controversy, providing an edge to the contest.

It will be interesting to see the battle between Suraj Randiv and Indian batsmen. The Indians have been bolstered by the return of Yuvraj Singh, who according to Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was laid low by dengue.

Yuvraj Singh also have some point to prove in this big game, he looked in bad shape against New Zealand in India first game but everyone knows how dangerous player he is if he gets going.

A win for India will ensure a final berth for India as in that scenario Sri Lanka will be left with six points with no match left while India will have secured at least nine points with another game -- against New Zealand -- to be played.

Indian batting will once again depend on how Sehwag, Dhoni and Raina play today. Indian bowling looks more solid than before with the likes of Praveen Kumar and Ashish Nehra providing important breakthrough at the top.

P.Ojha also done reasonably well in his last appearance with the good support from so-called all-rounder Ravinder Jadeja (who is yet to prove himself with the bat).

Sri Lanka though need a huge effort to focus on cricket after some on-field controversies, especially a loss on Sunday will knock them out of the tournament. However there is good news for them that their top orders are in good shape and will be eager to perform in such an important game.

Likely Playing XI for both Teams (Match is Schedule to begin at 14:30 PM India Time)

India Squad: Virendra Sehwag, Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni (Captain/WK), Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravinder Jadeja, P.Kumar, P.Ojha, Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra.

Sri Lanka Squad: Upul Tharanga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara (Captain & WK), Mahela Jayawardene, Angelo Mathews, Chamara Silva, T.Perera, Suraj Randiv, Lasith Malinga, D.Fernando, Nuwan Kulasekara.
