India v Sri Lanka 3rd Test at P Sara Oval – India look to bounce back

After dismissing Sri Lanka for 425 in their first inning, India looked on right patch to get back into the test match with the help of another blistering knock from Virendra Sehwag (97 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (40 runs). Both batsmen were at the crease when play is called-off on day2 of the third test match at P. Sara Oval.

India needs to win this game if they would like to level the three match test series 1-1. But it all depends on how the overnight no out batsmen Sehwag and Sachin play on day3. Sehwag who is already given a chance when he was on 52, have to make most use of it. Because only Sehwag can score the runs at a pace where India can get pass the Sri Lankan total quickly and then put pressure on the Lankan’s.

Of course, no one can afford to put down any chance offered by Sehwag. Not when he is in full flow, at he was at P Sara Oval today and when bad light ended play two overs short with the Delhi Dasher on 97, the 21st century was there for the taking.

On day3 Sri Lanka will be looking to get Sehwag out as quickly as possible otherwise they have to pay big price of a drop catch. India run rate is already over 5 runs per over and if Sehwag continues to play like that till two more session then there is no doubt that India will get pass the Sri Lankan 425 quite easily.

Earlier Sri Lanka started 2nd days play with quite cautious with Indian seamers bowled well without any success, however once Ojha was re-introduced into the attack Indians able to take the fifth wicket of Sri Lankan innings.

Pragyan Ojha and Ishant Sharma both bowled exceptionally well during Sri Lanka first innings. Both took four and three wickets respectively to restrict the Sri Lanka to just 425 runs.

For Sri Lanka, T.Samarweera star with the bat after scoring a superb century under pressure. He remained unbeaten on 137 runs.
