India v Sri Lanka 2nd Match – India aim for win in the year openers

After a 1-3 loss to India in the recently concluded ODI series, it will be great opportunity for the Sri Lanka to take revenge from India when they will take on India in their second group match of triangular series.

What was happened to Sri Lanka against India in the recently concluded ODI series is not what Sri Lankan teams are. It's clear they are a better team than what we saw in India but their misfortune was that their bowlers didn’t able to get them breakthrough or not able to control line and length against deadly Indian batting line up and in some games their batsman not able to capitalize on the start given by their top order batsmen.

Sri Lanka will have to deal with another problem which arises before the game against India, their top inform player T.Dilshan already ruled out of the game against India because of groin injury and that will be big blow for the Sri Lankans. They are already without some of their top players like batsman Mahela Jayawardene, allrounder Angelo Mathews and bowlers Muttiah Muralitharan and Dilhara Fernando.

While players like S.Jayasurya, Chamara Kapugedera, fast bowler Lasith Malinga and spinner Ajantha Mendis is not picked for the tour. So it will be another great challenge for the Sri Lankan captain to beat strong India side on Bangladesh soil.

On the other hand, India is only without Sachin Tendulkar and rest of the teams are same as they have played against Sri Lanka. But this team is very well balanced and has immense talent to beat any team in the world even without Sachin.

Yuvraj Singh is still doubtful but India have Rohit Sharma or Dinesh Karthik as a backup. The only concerns for Indians are their fielding and it needs some improvement.

The bowling department will also be strengthened by the return of pacer S Sreesanth, who has fully recovered from swine flu he suffered during the Sri Lanka series.

Toss will play a very important role in this tournament because of dew factors. Winning mantra at Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur will be wins the toss and bowl first.

Watch out for

Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir: Both players are in great form and will be eager to rock on Bangladesh soil. In Sachin absence it will be good opportunity for both partners to take responsibility and win another series for India.

Upul Tharanga: He has recently shown how dangerous he can be with the bat in the series against India. With Jayasurya dropped from the squad it will be good time for him to grab this opportunity and show his immense talent.

Pitch & Condition

The Pitch at Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur will be an ideal wicket for cricket and team winning the toss is likely to have a bowl considering the dew factor which will come into play at later stage of the game. Any score between 280-290 will be comparative total.

Teams

India is yet to decide on Yuvraj Singh, however with the two our practice session he has taken part on Monday it’s an indication that the southpaw is ready to rock in the Bangladesh den. In the bowling department Sreesanth may get a game after returning from swine flu.

Sri Lanka team who already have plenty of injured players in their rank in last 60 days have now been dealt a further blow with Dilshan's injury. T.Dilshan suffered the injury during his match-winning knock of 104 runs in the opening game. This means now they have left with very few experienced players in the side. They are already without Jayawardne, Muralitharan, Fernando, Jayasurya, Angelo Mathews. It will be now a good chance for some of the younger players to show their talent at International levels.

Likely Playing XI for both Teams (Match is Schedule to begin at 14:00 PM India Time)

India Squad: V.Sehwag, G.Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, M.S.Dhoni (Captain & WK), Ravinder Jadeja, H.Singh, S.Sreesanth, S.Tyagi, Z.Khan.

Sri Lanka Squad: Upul Tharanga, Chamara Silva, Kumar Sangakkara (Captain & WK), Thilan Samaraweera, Thilina Kandamby, Thissara Perera, L.Thiramane, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, Suraj Randiv, R.Lakmal, Chanaka Welagedera.
