Sri Lanka thrashed Bangladesh by 7 wickets in 1st match of Tri-series

Sri Lanka started the triangular series tournament in Bangladesh on winning note by beating the host Bangladesh comprehensively by 7 wickets. Tilakratne Dilshan started the year 2010 with bang and smashed his sixth ODI century to help Sri Lanka to chase down 261 runs target with ease.

Chasing 261 to win, the Lankans cruised to victory with 5.1 overs to spare as their top order batted well to ensure they make a winning start to the tournament. T.Dilshan hit 12 boundaries in his 122 ball knock of 104 runs. However he eventually got out when Sri Lanka were just 19 runs behind from the target.

Apart from Dilshan, Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakara continued his good form with the bat, smashing 74 runs of just 73 balls.

Earlier Sri Lankan captain after winning the toss put Bangladesh into bat. Openers of Bangladesh Tamim Iqbal (40 runs of 46 balls) and Imrul Kayes (23 runs of 37 balls) gave a perfect launching pad for the batsmen to follow after adding 65 runs for the first wicket. But loss of four quick wickets in space of 23 deliveries reduced the Bangladesh score from 65/0 to 74/4.

But superb effort from former Captain M.Ashraful (75 runs of 94 balls), M.Rahim (35 runs of 52 balls), Mahmudullah (45 runs of 47 balls) and N.Islam (22 runs of 9 balls) helped Bangladesh to put a challenging total in front of Sri Lankan batsman.

Tilakratne Dilshan was declared Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 104 runs.
