Pakistan v New Zealand twenty20 Super Eights – A must win game for Pakistan

twenty20 World Cup 2009After loosing to Sri Lanka in their first Super Eights game now Pakistan must beat New Zealand to stay alive in the ICC World Twenty20. A win here will certainly give hopes to their fans that Pakistan now can make to the Semi Finals of World Twenty20. They will be playing their next game with Ireland and we can expect Pakistan team to beat them easily.

As a bowling unit they have been both wasteful and outstanding. In the last game they concede too many runs at start and then pulled back Sri Lanka in the middle overs. In the batting also they didn’t get a great start in the tournament and that’s why they have struggled.

New Zealand on the other hand played some great cricket in the tournament and in last game they were brilliant in the field. Specially acting Captain B.McCullum who fielded like a magnet. A. Redmond filled up the gap of Jessey Ryder very well in the lat game but it will be interesting to see how he approaches his game against tough opponent.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch as Oval always produced high scoring game and this time around the pitch to be used is no different. We can expect a high scoring game in today’s game. Weather looks fine with little bit cloudy condition so there will some help for the seam bowlers in initial overs.

Team News

Abdul Razzak is finally arrived in England and he is certain to play the do-or-die game. He may or may no perform because he was out of International cricket for almost two years but recent form with bat and bowl makes him player to watch in today’s game. Salman Butt is likely to be dropped from Playing XI as he didn’t performed well enough in his two outings.

New Zealand team has big headache before this crucial game as some of their key players are yet to recover from injuries. J.Ryder is already ruled of T20 International. Ross Taylor and Captain Daniel Vettori is yet to recover from injury but New Zealand can only hope that they will be fit enough to play in today’s game which is unlikely to be happen.

Likely Playing XI for both teams (Match is schedule to begin at 22:00 PM India Time on 13th Of June)

Pakistan Squad: Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal (WK), Shoaib Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan (Captain), Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Umar Gul, Mohammad Aamer, Saeed Ajmal.
