India Vs New Zealand 2nd ODI – India aim to continue their winning momentum at Westpac Stadium, Wellington

After winning the first One day international at Napier quite easily, M.S.Dhoni and his men will have real job on their hand when they take on New Zealand during second ODI in the ground which is exceptionally lucky for the host. Indian team played only one ODI at this ground, which they manage to win by two wickets.

Indian team looks settled in all department of the game during first one day international, with Dhoni coming to bat at three and performing well is another good sign for the team. Sehwag already warned New Zealand that if Indian top order clicked then New Zealand might chase another huge target during second one day international at Wellington.

New Zealand could not ask for better venue than this for leveling the ODI series. However they have some worry of concern, since one of their prime player B.McCullum is suffering from thumb injury occurred during first ODI at Napier. New Zealand is likely to retain him in the playing XI as a batsman and will play Peter McGlashan as wicketkeeper.

While India would be keen to carry forward the winning momentum, the hosts would be itching to square the series by exploiting the home conditions to the fullest. Indian team who started their tour on losing notes, now looks settled especially in their batting department. Indian team will be again without the service of Ishant Sharma but he didn't miss much during first ODI, with Praveen Kumar performed really well with the new ball.

Watch out for

M.Guptill: M.Guptill a new talented New Zealand cricketers, who came to the seen during West Indies series scoring a century in his debut ODI. Since then he played some great knocks in his eight match ODI career, scoring 365 runs with an average of 60.83. As we have seen during first ODI how dangerous this man is when come to hitting the ball with so much ease and timing.

S.Raina: What an inning he played during his knock of 66 runs of 39 balls. He is entertaining to watch when he is in full flow. A man with lots of talent but he often gets carried away and throw his wicket away. That one thing he needs to learn as quickly as possible in the favor of his team and for himself.

Pitch and conditions

Pitch at Westpac Stadium, Wellington is expected to same as used during twenty20 low and slow. Team winning the toss would like to bat first and post decent score on the board. This ground is known for providing low scoring encounters. Rain is also expected so we might once again get the result based on D/L methods.

Stats & Trivia

Westpac Stadium, Wellington is one of the happy hunting grounds for the host where they manage to win 10 out of fifteen ODI's they have played here. They haven't lost a game since last five encounters at this venue. They have also beaten India here during second twenty20.

Team winning the toss has opted to bat on nine occasions out of 16 ODI's played at this ground.

Team News

Ishant Sharma has still not fully recovered from his shoulder injury. So, Indian think management would not like to take any risk by playing him. Munaf Patel who doesn't look in good rhythm during Napier ODI is likely to be replaced by I.Pathan. Rest of the squad will remain same as appeared in first ODI.

New Zealand has little worry of concern going into the match. B.McCullum has a thumb injury while keeping wicket at McClean Park, Napier against the bowling of G.Elliot. However New Zealand management will be hoping that he will be fit to play. Peter McGlashan has been called up to the squad in case McCullum doesn't recover in time. If McCullum will play then N.Broom will make way for P. McGlashan who will keep wickets in place of B.McCullum. Rest of the squad is likely to remain same for New Zealanders.
