Sri Lankan cricketer was attacked in Lahore, Pakistan by dozen unidentified masked gunmen. This is one of work moment for cricket and especially for Pakistan Cricket Board after India cancelled their tour earlier in Januray, Sri Lankan board agree to send their player for five ODI's and Two match test series.
Sri Lankan were four days away from completing their tour of Pakistan, when the shameful incidence taken place. Five Sri Lankan cricketers including Captain Mahela Jayawardene and his deputy Kumar Sangakara, received minor injuries. The attack also left six security men and two civilians dead.
The lists of injured players are: Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Mahela Jayawardene and Thilan Thushara.
By this incidence Sri Lankan cricket board cancelled their tour and now Sri Lankan player is preparing to fly back to their home by today itself. Meanwhile, The International Cricket Council (ICC) has called in an emergency meeting in Colombo to assess the situation and take stock.
The incidence took place outside Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore when Sri Lankan cricketers passing by bus Liberty roundabout. A group of gunmen (Reportedly 12 in number), armed with automatic weapons, were waiting there in a white car, then resorted to indiscriminate firing at the convoy and even fired rocket launchers. Seven security men have lost their lives while two others are reportedly injured.
By this shameful incidence many cricket board will think twice before sending their team to Pakistan in near future. It is really shameful for cricketing world. Indian team who is at presently playing their first ODI against New Zealand are in shock state of mind when they came to know the incidence taken place in Lahore, Pakistan.
