Indian bastman played aggressively after their captain M.S.Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first to set Pakistan a near-impossible target to win the match. Some poor bowling combined with some poor captaincy from Pakistanis helped Indian batsmans to get going. Openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag piled up 155 runs before most of the other batsmen also chipped in, running the Pakistanis ragged. The fielding side was completely demoralised as the bowlers threw the ball down to all parts -- short, wide and overpitched. Each and every batsman chipped in with few quick runs as they piled up huge 330/8 in their 50 overs. G.Gambhir (62 runs of 62 balls) and V.Sehwag (89 runs of 76 balls) was the real hero of Indian innings. OnlyYusuf Pathan a man making his ODI debut scored only 3 runs of 12 balls and Rohit Sharma 9 runs of 27 balls failed to score for his team. Yuvraj Singh (55 runs of 54 balls), M.S.Dhoni (24 runs of 23 balls), S.Raina (26 runs of 22 balls) and I.Pathan (18 runs of 18 balls) are other contributors, who helped their team to reach the 300 plus scores at the end of 50 overs. From Pakistan Umar Gul was most successful bowler who picked 3 wickets in the depth over while S.Afridi and Wahab Riaz picked up two wickets each. While all the bowlers are on the very expensive side, S.Afridi manage to pick two crucial wickets of Y.Pathan and R.Sharma by conceding just 52 runs in his 10 overs.
