Finally when it seems all lost for Deccan Chargers they bounced back with bang in the tournament with a win over one of tournament favorite Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets. After loosing out many close encounters they manage to register a convincing win over Chennai Super Kings.
In the absence of Regular skipper V.V.S Laxman, Adam Gilchrist led his side from front and scored a brilliant 54 runs of 36 balls with 2 sixes and seven fours, before RP Singh led a disciplined bowling effort as Chennai were restricted to 144-7.
A.Gilchrist was well supported by his other team mates in chasing a small total of 145 runs; Scott Styris (36 not out), Rohit Sharma (23) and Shahid Afridi (20 not out) all made it count with the bat.
Earlier Deccan Chargers won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings to bat. Deccan Chargers got of to perfect start as their new ball bowlers R.P Singh and Vijay Kumar removed Parthiv Patel and Srikkanth Anirudh cheaply. Thereafter Chennai Super Kings have two further blows to get them on back foot. Rohit Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs took two outstanding catches as Stephen Fleming (14) and S Badrinath's (0) to dismiss these two dangerous players.
Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni finally appeared to have stemmed the rot, putting in valuable runs from a precarious 43-4. But Sanjay Bangar ended their defiance by getting rid of Raina for 32 before Pragyan Ojha removed Dhoni (23) as Chennai slid further to 86-6.
However South African all rounder A.Morkel (29 runs of 19 balls) and M.Gony (15 runs of 6 balls) gave their team something to bowl on as they manage to put 36 runs in the last two overs.
A.Gilchrist was declared Man of the Match.
