Twenty20 World Cup 2010 – India register an easy 14 runs win against South Africa

India register another emphatic win in ICC world twenty20 210 after beating South Africa by 14 runs. Suresh Raina played a big helping hand for India after scoring superb 101 runs of just 60 balls. He only became 2nd batsman to scored century in ICC World twenty20 and third player to score T20I century after Chris Gayle and B.McCullum.

After put into bat, India struggle against the swinging ball earlier and lost new comer M.Vijay in the very first over of the inning. D.Karthik the replacement of Gautam Gambhir in today’s game also failed to score his runs freely and in the end throw his wicket away when he tried to clear mid-on in the sixth over.

At 32/2 in the 6th over India were struggling and needed a solid partnership which is what Yuvraj Singh (37 runs of 30 balls) and Suresh Raina (101 runs of 60 balls) did, both put on quick-fire 88 runs of just 63 balls for the fourth wicket to put India right back into the game.

Suresh Raina scored his last 82 runs of just 38 balls. In the end M.S.Dhoni (16 runs of 6 balls) and Yusuf Pathan (11 runs of 7 balls) made an useful contribution to help India post a huge 186/5 in their 20 overs.

South Africa's reply, in the face of a four-spinner Indian attack - without using Yuvraj - was even more confounding. Jacques Kallis and Smith struggled to flow, and hesitated to take risks. Their run-rate crossed six an over for the first time in the 11th over, and it was too late by then, despite some late hitting from Kallis.

With both Jaques Kallis (73 runs of 54 balls) and G.Smith (36 runs of 28 balls) struggling, it was needed some magic from someone to achieve the target. Needing 117 runs to win in last 9 overs was always going to be difficult and that is what happened to South Africans. Kallis and Smith left it for too late and when some intent was shown by South African captain G.Smith after hitting a massive six in the 12th over, the required run rate was already climbed to 13 run per over.

In the end AB Devilliers (31 runs of 15 balls) and A.Morkel (12 runs of 7 balls) left with too much to do and they have manage just 172/5 in their 20 over to give India 14 runs win over protease.

With this win India storm into super 8’s stage and their next game will be on Friday 7th of May against A2 (Australia or Bangladesh).

S.Raina was declared Man of the Match for his blistering knock of 101 runs of 60 balls.
