India beat Sri Lanka by an inning and 24 runs to become No.1 Test Team

Much awaited time has finally arrives and it’s time to celebrate because we have achieved what we have deserved to achieve by playing some aggressive and outstanding cricket in last 18 months or so. On Sunday morning when play resumes on day five, all eyes was on one man Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sagakkara because he was the only man standing between India wins and eventually becoming the number one test team.

However Zaheer Khan has other idea as he snatched the vital wicket on his very third ball of the day by dismissing Sri Lankan captain for 137 runs. After that it was matter of few overs to wrap-up the game and achieve what we were waiting for.

Needing just four wickets to record an emphatic victory, the hosts took just about 40 minutes to polish off the visiting team's tail to record their second consecutive innings victory.

Zaheer Khan was starred for India as he picked up five for 72 runs. His eighth five wicket haul in test cricket. Last wicket was picked by Harbhajan Singh; the crowd erupted into a frenzy as Muttiah Muralitharan edged a flighted delivery from Harbhajan Singh to M.S.Dhoni to bring down the curtains on the Lankan innings.

This test series will be remembered for long-long time. In this particular series India able to achieve their 100th test win in test cricket. Also they were able to maintain their good records against Sri Lanka.

This game will be remembered for Virendra Sehwag swashbuckling knock of 293 runs of 254 balls.

Mumbai Cricket Association gave memento to the great spinner M.Muralitharan on his last tour of India.
