Twenty20 World Cup – India begin title defense against unpredictable Bangladesh at Trent Bridge

World twenty20 champions India will start their world twenty20 campaign against dangerous floaters Bangladesh. India are placed in a group that many people are calling a cake-walk for the Indians in the Supers Eight stage with Ireland and Bangladesh are in their group.

However Indian team not forgotten 2007 (50 over) World Cup played in West Indies where they loss to Bangladesh and eventually thrown out of the competition very early. They might be world champions in twenty20 but they can’t take this game lightly specially against Bangladesh. In the last twenty20 world cup they have beaten West Indies quite easily in their opening game to march into the Super Eight stage.

Indian team will be once again play without their star Sehwag and Zaheer Khan. Both are suffering from shoulder injuries. Both players missed the warm-up matches against New Zealand and Pakistan and is likely to sit in the game against Bangladesh too.

Zaheer picked up the injury while playing for Mumbai Indians in the early part of the IPL in South Africa while Sehwag was injured after landing in England. Although Zaheer Khan started to bowl in the nets but Indian think management would not like to take risk by playing him in this game.

That means Rohit Sharma will open the innings with Gautam Gambhir. In two warm-up games Rohit Sharma didn't let his captain down and scored a brilliant 80 off 53 balls to script an emphatic win over arch-rivals Pakistan.

However they have few worries as their bowlers struggle to save runs in the depth overs. In the first warm-up games they have given away 41 runs in the last four overs while in the game against Pakistan they have conceded 44 runs in the last four.

Bangladesh has shown some brilliance against weaker side in the warm-up games but against tough opponents their batting and bowling both looked vulnerable.

Watch out For

Md. Ashraful: A most talented Bangladeshi batsman. In the last world cup he showed his brilliance against West Indies in the opening game so he might be one of the dangerous batsman Indians would like to get him out as early as possible.

Rohit Sharma: He continues his good show from IPL to twenty20 in England. In the two warm-up games he showed his class and power hitting ability. 53-ball 80 runs against Pakistan was a perfect opener's innings in a Twenty20 chase.
