Twenty20 World Cup 2009 Points Table

twenty20 World Cup 2009

Here are the points table with the Net Run rate and the number of matches each team has played so far in the Twenty20 World Cup 2009.

In the initial phase of World twenty20 we receive two shocking results first when Australia didn’t qualify for Super Eights stage and then BangladeshIreland to qualify for the Super Eights stage. beaten comprehensively by

Defending world champions India are placed with England, South Africa and West Indies in Group E while New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Ireland are placed in Group F.

No points is carry forwarded into the Super Stage that means each team will start fresh and at least they have to win two of their Super Eights matches to give themselves chance to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 Semifinals.

Top two teams from each Group will qualify for the ICC world twenty20 Semi Final spot and if any two teams have same point then net run rate will come into play to decide the team going forward to play the Semi Finals. Should net run-rate also fail to separate the sides, then the one with the higher number of wickets taken per balls bowled in the group stage in which results were achieved, will be preferred. And if the teams remain in a deadlock, then the winner of the group match between the sides will prevail. If all of the aforementioned tie-breakers fail, the teams will be separated by drawing lots.

Can you explain to me why England's net run rate is 1.48. I thought that the calculation would be

    (162+185)/(20+20)-(163+137)/(20+20)

    giving

    (347/40)-(300/40) = 47/40 = 1.175

    Where have I gone wrong?

Your calculation is absolutely correct. The Net Run Rate in the table is a mistake. I hope the blog admin will correct it.

Check out any other site its 1.175.
