New Zealand thrashed India by 8 Wickets to receive consolation win in fifth ODI at Auckland

What a game of cricket, few days back New Zealand looks down and out against the power hitting Indian batting line up and today’s there bowler performed exceptionally well to bundled the Indians for just 149 runs in 36.3 overs and then came out all gun blazing to reach the target in 23.2 overs with the loss of just two wickets.

It seems that Indian team after there last victory, played the fifth ODI with over confidence what they did when they started their tour. It was not just loss but what New Zealand batsman and bowler done in this match will give some headache to the Indian captain. Their prime bowler Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma went for plenty. Both bowled 15.2 overs between them and conceded 114 runs.

After being beaten heavily in the last three ODI’s this is one of the best comebacks by the team who already lost the series. The big contributor or we can say star for New Zealand in this match was Jesse Ryder who first took three important wickets (Yuvraj, Dhoni and Y.Pathan) and then smashed 63 runs of just 49 balls with four huge sixes and six fours.

Earlier due to rain, match was reduced to 43 overs a side. M.S.Dhoni after winning the toss decided to bat first in cloudy condition. They didn't get the start from their openers and lost G.Gambhir very early with just 30 runs on the board in the fifth over. However

Virendra Sehwag continued to play in same fashion despite ball were moving allot. He smashed 40 runs in just 27 balls with three huge six and three boundaries to the fence.

Apart from him only Rohit Sharma (43 runs of 74 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (11 runs of 24 balls) was other India batsman to reach double figures. Rest of the Indian batting failed and wickets have fallen like pack of cards.

One of the shameful batting displays by the Indians. India lost the match by eight wickets, but in the manner they have lost it was really ridiculous. How any one can say this is one of the best batting lineup India have ever produced. If you see the stats whenever they get good start from openers only then they manage to put huge total on the board.

Today's match was one of the worst days on this tour for Dhoni and his men and it would be nice to forget the day as soon as possible with first test match is just few days away.

Jesse Ryder is declared Man of the Match for his all round performance with bat and ball.
