on Monday defeating Pakistan
by five runs.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has lined up a victory march for the Men in Blue from the very minute they set their foot on home soil. Thousands of fans had been camping at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport since last night to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
The 30-km long route from the airport through Bandra junction, Mahim, Haji Ali, Peddar road to the Wankhede Stadium is also jam-packed with lakhs of fans.
Even the skies opened up to join in the celebrations. It has been raining heavily in Mumbai since last night and the weather has been very pleasant.
From early morning fans were seen bursting crackers and as soon as the team members came out of the airport, they were showered with flowers.
Seeing the frenzy among the fans India Vice-Captain Yuvraj Singh could not stop him and started dancing as soon as he got on top of the top-open team bus - Vijay Rath.
Indian Twenty20 team manager-cum-coach Lalchand Rajput said that it was a heady feeling to get such a grand reception.
"It is great. Simply great," a beaming Rajput said from the team bus.
A felicitation ceremony has been planned for the entire team along with the coaching and the support staff by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium.
