India Squad for Australia Tour 2011/12

Indian Selector on last days of third test against West Indies announced the all important 17 member squad for the tour of Australia. This squad will play four matches test series against Australia.

The squad comprised eight specialist batsmen, two wicketkeeper batsmen, five fast bowlers and two spinners. Wriddhiman Saha was named as reserve wicketkeeper, while Zaheer Khan, who is recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries, will join the team subject to match fitness.

Zaheer Khan who is out of the scene since England test series is looking ahead to gain the fitness and strength to his muscle before the important series against Australia. India has not win a series in Australia since quite a few years and it will be great opportunity for India to win the series against rebuilding Australian team.

Harbhajan Singh who is struggling to get into the India Squad after a disappointing tour of England is yet again overlooked by the Indian selectors. The chief Selector K.Srikanth said that all seventeen member squad is selected as per their performance in the recent test series against West Indies or at the domestic levels.

Pragyan Ojha and R. Ashwin performed exceptionally well in the West Indies test series and it’s really hard to omit such player from the squad said Indian selectors after announcing the squad. Bothe players has taken 22 and 23 wickets respectively so it’s better to go with in form player rather than player who is struggling to get wickets at international levels.

India Squad: MS Dhoni (Captain & WK), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Rohit Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Praveen Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Zaheer Khan (subject to fitness).
