India v England 2nd ODI New Delhi – India look to dominate

India after the horrible tour of England started the Payback series with great win against the visitors England. They have beaten England in all department of the game and 2nd ODI will become more interesting for the England as loss in this game will mean they have to beat India in last three if they have any chance of winning the ODI series in India after almost 27 years.

India won the firs ODI on a slow turning wicket in Hyderabad thanks to some calculated batting by India Captain M.S.Dhoni and some powerful strike by Suresh Raina. Indian spinner also bowler really well in the helpful condition and that resulted in huge win for India. Another bright spot in Indian team is the rise of Ravindra Jadeja who has improved vastly since the 2009 T20 World Cup. The left-hander scored a fighting 27 and took three important wickets and would once again be the one to look out for on the slow Kotla wicket.

In the absence of star players like Sehwag, Sachin, Yuvraj and Zaheer Khan, Indian team responded well both in batting as well as bowling department. Praveen Kumar who always looks quite settle with his line and length was spot on in the 1st ODI, the young pacer Umesh Yadav bowled consistently over 140 kph mark and that is another good sign for India before the all important series in Australia.

The Indian spin bowling was brilliant in the first ODI, R Ashwin once again proved that he is the best man for the job after Harbhajan Singh. Delhi wicket is likely to help spinners and Ashwin & Jadeja both will eye another great performance to get India into great position in the series.

England on the other hand needs to get into groove as soon as possible to challenge the Young Indian side. In batting they need K.Pietersen and J.Trott to perform for them to chase down the target or set a good total to chase for the Indians. There bowling also needs lot of improvement as we saw in first ODI they don’t have answer to Dhoni and Raina hitting the ball at their will.

The English batsmen will have to pull up their socks if they want to take the fight to the opposition, or else the five-match series might fizzle out into a one-sided affair in favor of the hosts.

Likely Playing XI for both teams (Match is schedule to begin at 14:30 PM India Time)

India is likely to go with same XI that thrashed England comprehensively in 1st ODI at Hyderabad. Having said that, it’s most important series for India to try out some new youngster waiting in the wings the likes of Rahul Sharma or Varun Aaron.

On the other hand England who thrashed by India in all department is likely to get some strength in bowling as well as batting department.

India Squad: Parthiv Patel (WK), Ajinkya Rahane, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, M.S.Dhoni (Captain & WK), Ravinder Jadeja, , R.Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron.

England Squad: Craig Kieswetter (WK), Alastair Cook (Captain), Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ravi Bopara, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan, Graeme Swann, Steven Finn, Scott Borthwick, Jade Dernbach.
