India v West Indies ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2010 – Do or Die game for both teams

twenty20 world cup 2010In the second consecutive twenty20 world cup, India on a verge of exit from twenty20 world cup and it will be interesting to see how they cope up with this pressure. India after loosing their first super eight to Australia by 49 runs will left with plenty to do in today’s game against West Indies, they not only need a win but need win with bigger margin to improve their net run rate to secure to give themselves chance to qualify for twenty20 world cup semi finals.

West Indies on the other hand face similar situation and they love to bounce out India from the competition by using the same tactic employed by the Australians. Indian top order batsmen look vulnerable against short-pitch bowling, so West Indies will look to adapt similar tactics.

West Indies have Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor to again test the Indian batsmen with short-pitch deliveries. In spin department also S.Benn looked in good rhythm so far and can prove decisive against India.

This is must-win game for both teams and they know any error will not allow them to go into the next round of twenty20 world cup 2010. Both teams have fire-power in their line up to change the game scenario.

India have Yuvraj Singh, M.S.Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan and Suresh Raina in their line-up and West Indies have K.Pollard, Chris Gayle anyone from both side can prove very dangerous when they get going.

In bowling department both teams have plenty of thinking to do, West Indies in their last two games conceded 191 and 195 runs against England and Sri Lanka, on the other hand India have conceded 170 and 184 runs in their last two outings. Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan has given plenty of runs, by considering this Dhoni will think of playing with only one of them in today’s game.

There is whole lot of improvement need to be done for both side but they are running out of time. All in all by considering their performance in last few games it’s heading towards a great contest between these two sides.

Watch out for

M.S.Dhoni: Whenever his team needs him he is there to help them out. He will be the man to watch when he will lead the side in must win game both with bat and with his tactical captaincy. As we have seen in IPL when his franchise team CSK were going down he played a blinder to not only help them to qualify for the semifinals but in the end crowned the IPL twenty20 title.

D.Bravo: Last time when he has played against India in twenty20 world cup, he single handedly guided his team home with four wickets and a flamboyant 36-ball 66 with the bat. This time he looks to repeat the similar kind of performance to help his team to win the most watched battle of this year ICC world twenty20.

Pitch & Condition

The Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados will host their final game of super eight stages, so far they have provided a very good wicket both for batting and bowling. The team winning the toss is likely to bat first and put runs on the board to put pressure on the opposition. In the last few games we have seen plenty of high scoring games as well as low scoring thrillers, so it’s very hard to predict what will be the good score on this surface. Having said that, team batting first will eye somewhere between 150 to 160 runs.

Teams

Rohit Sharma with blistering knock against Australia almost assured his place for this game. M.S.Dhoni who played with only four specialists bowler will have plenty of thinking to do about their combination. M.Vijay who failed in last few games is likely to be replaced by Dinesh Karthik and R.Jadeja is also likely to be replaced by Piyush Chawla.

West Indies is likely to go with same XI but we might see some changes in batting order in today’s game.

Likely Playing XI for both Teams (Match is Schedule to begin at 19:00 PM India Time)

India Squad: G.Gambhir, D.Karthik, S.Raina, Yuvraj Singh, M.S.Dhoni (Captain & WK), Yusuf Pathan, H.Singh, Piyush Chawla, Z.Khan, A.Nehra.

West Indies Squad: Chris Gayle (Captain), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin (WK), Darren Sammy, Sulieman Benn, Jerome Taylor, Kemar Roach.
