It was a day for younger players as both teams new comer performed exceptionally well. First it was Mohammad Amer of Pakistan who set the tone for Pakistan by picking up three wickets earlier then West Indian pace bowler G.Tonge picked up four top order Pakistanis wicket to give scare to then but in the end Umar Akmal played a brilliant knock of 41 runs of 51 balls to guide his team home comfortable from the score of 76/5.
Pakistan started their run chase in dramatic fashion and lost their openers for just 20 off runs on the board. However former skipper S.Malik (23 runs of 39 balls) and Md. Yusuf (23 runs of 31 balls) put on 33 runs to steady the Pakistan inning but West Indies fast bowler Tonge have other ideas as he removed both batsman in quick succession to bring some hope for West Indian fans.
However young Umar Akmal showed a Perfect test of character at the critical stage of the match to guide Pakistan home along with his captain Shahid Afridi (17 runs of 25 balls) without any further damage. Both went on to put 58 runs for the sixth wicket of just 48 balls.
Earlier West Indies Captain Floyd Reifer won the toss and elected to bat first but some accurate fast bowling from Pakistan and poor shot selection by West Indian top orders gave Pakistanis the momentum they were looking for. In the end they bowled out for just 133 runs in 34.3.
The depleted West Indies side never recovered from a poor start and had it not been lower-order batsman N.Miller gutsy 51, they wouldn't have crossed the century-mark. Miller struck his maiden half-century and smashed one six and six boundaries in his 57-ball knock. D.Sammy (25 runs) and D.Smith (18 runs) were other two batsman who got into double figure mark.
U.Akmal was declared Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 41 runs of 51 balls.
