Gilchrist brilliance put Deccan Chargers into the IPL 2009 Final

A.Gilchrist continued to show what he can do on big occasions and that what he did exactly against the Delhi Daredevils by playing a blistering knock of 85 runs of just 35 balls with ten 4’s and five huge 6’s. His inning not only outplayed Delhi Daredevils at SuperSports Park Centurion but also send an alarming signal to the opposition (Chennai or Bangalore) before the Final at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

This means for the second successive times Delhi Daredevils lost in the semi final of IPL. Last year they have beaten comprehensively by Rajasthan Royals and this year they out played by Gilchrist brilliance.

Earlier after winning the toss A.Gilchrist has no hesitation in putting Delhi Daredevils into bat. Delhi got off to disastrous start by loosing both the openers (Gambhir and Warner) for Golden duck, with 0/2 it was looking really dark for Delhi Daredevils at that point but Virendra Sehwag and T.Dilshan put on quick 85 runs in just 54 balls to put Delhi back on track.

However just after strategic timeout, Delhi Daredevils lost their captain Sehwag (39 runs of 31 balls) at the wrong time. Sehwag's departure put the breaks on Delhi before Dilshan, accompanied by AB de Villiers, got the team back on track.

T.Dilshan his good form and get on to scored 4th IPL 209 fifty. Dilshan survived two dropped catches and a run out attempt to score 65 off 51 balls. In the end Delhi find very difficult to get going and lost five wickets and manage just 34 runs in the last five overs.

For Deccan Chargers Ryan Harris and R.P.Singh were most successful bowlers by picking up three and two wickets respectively.

A.Gilchrist was declared Man of the Match for his blistering 85 runs of 35 balls.
