Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar hit his 38th ton at Sydney Cricket ground to help his team to take 69 run lead in their first innings. At stumps on day3 Australia were 13/0 still trail by 56 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar (154* runs of 243 balls) was well supported by lower order batsman which helped him to reach his 38th well deserve hundred at Sydney. At one stage India were 345/7, however off spinner Harbhajan Singh (63 runs of 92 balls) and Sachin Tendulkar involved in crucial partnership of 129 runs to put their team right back into the match.
R.P Singh and Ishant Sharma also played well and put on 27 runs and 31 runs for 9th and 10th wicket with Sachin Tendulkar to get India a valuable lead of 69 runs.
Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly carried their good work from where they had left on 2nd Day and build on solid partnership of 108 runs before Saurav Ganguly (67 runs) gave away his wicket to Bradd Hogg by playing a rash short.
Yuvraj Singh once again failed to deliver the runs for his team and got out for tentative 12 runs when he was trapped by Brett Lee. Australian Paceman Brett Lee continued to make inroads in the Indian batting order; his wicket moments before lunch was followed by a double jolt immediately afterwards, as India slumped to 345-7, in danger of giving away a substantial lead.
Brett Lee removed Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2 runs of 13 balls) and captain Anil Kumble (2 runs of 5 balls) in quick succession to identical dismissals. Dhoni's dismissal also gave Adam Gilchrist his 400th Test victim.
