The next twenty20 world cup will be held in Sri Lanka in 2012. The tournament will be held from 18th September 2012 to 7th October 2012. There will be total 27 number of matches will be played this time.
All participating 12 teams is divided in four Groups consisting of three teams in each group. Twenty20 World Champion England is kept in Group A with India and one qualifier which will be decided in March 2012. Runners up Australia are in Group B with West Indies and one qualifier team. Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zimbabwe are in Group C and Pakistan, New Zealand & Bangladesh will form the Group D.
Top two teams from each Group will advance to next stage called super 8’s stage. There will be two Groups in Super Eight stage where four teams will form one Group. Each team will play each other in there corresponding Group and top two teams with highest point and superior net run rate will move to play Semi Finals.
Colombo, Pallekele and Hambantota will be venues for twenty20 world cup. Colombo will host world twenty20 semi finals as well as Final. India will play all there games at R.Premdasa Stadium, Colombo.
