Harbhajan and Sehwag brilliance ended day2 of 2nd Test at evenly poised stage

First it was V.Sehwag (201 not out runs) who helped India to post a comparative total in the first inning and then Harbhajan Singh run through the Sri Lankan top orders by picking up four crucial wickets to reduce Sri Lanka at 215/5 with M.Jayawardne batting on 46 not out with wicketkeeper batsman H.Jayawardne (5 runs).

When Sri Lankan inning started it was Zaheer Khan who strikes with his third delivery in the very first over to get rid off M.Vandort. But Kumar Sangkara (68 runs) and B.Warnapura (66 runs) put on 133 runs for 2nd wicket to frustrate the Indians.

But Harbhajan Singh strikes in quick succession removing both set batsman in the space of 13 deliveries to reduce the Sri Lankan score from 137/1 to 144/3. Later in a day he strikes again twice in the same over. First he get rid off T.Samarweera (14 runs) and then T.Dilshan (0 runs) to get the visitors team something to think about when play will resume on 3rd day.

Earlier it was V.Sehwag alone battle 201 runs of 231 balls with four huge sixes and twenty two fours which gave India a respectable total of 329/10. He was just a spectator at the other end when A.Mendis (6/117) and M.Muralitharan (2/93) run through the lower order of Indian batting line up.

With this knock V.Sehwag also get pass 5000 runs in test cricket. He has taken just 99 innings to achieve the feet and became only second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to reach 5000 runs mark in quick succession.
