Twenty20 Cricket World Cup 2007 – Gibbs help SA to beat WI by 8 Wickets

Herchell Gibs played an outstanding knock of 90 runs to help South Africa to beat West Indies by 8 wickets in the first game of the tournament. Chasing a target of 206 in 20 Overs set by the West Indies, South Africa able to achieve the same in 17.4 overs with H.Gibbs not out on 90 of 55 balls and Justin Kemp not out on 46 runs of 22 balls.


Earlier Soauth African Captain Greame Smith won the toss and put West Indies into bat. West Indies Opener started their tournament with aggressiveness with hitting fours and sixes all around the park, especially Chris Gayle who hit first century of the tournament 117 runs of 55 balls with 10 huge sixes and 7 fours. At one stage they are looking to reach the score of more than 225 runs but some quick wicket loss towards end over they manage only 205/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
